Bird watchers in Derbyshire took part in a RSPB survey which showed numbers are at their lowest for five years.
The Big Garden Birdwatch results showed the average number of garden birds have declined by a fifth since 2004 however four species of finch have increased.
In Derbyshire house sparrows came out top of the tree, followed by starlings and blackbirds and the colourful goldfinch made it in to the top ten for the first time.
Participants also noted an increase in song thrushes, with numbers up by 80 per cent, compared to last year.
However, a decline of almost two thirds in song thrush numbers over the past 30 years was recorded and house sparrows have decreased by almost two thirds since 1979.
