Andrew Roland Oliver, or Ollie for short, was born and lived in Matlock.
At the age of 17 he joined the Doughnut Band as a bass player.
A couple of years later Ollie, with new singer Margo Buchanan and her husband-to-be Gordon Reaney, the outfit called themselves Smack and relocated to Coventry.
Margo went on to become a backing vocalist to the stars.
Ollie now lives in Cornwall and is busy writing and recording his own material, but is keen to come back and play a few gigs in Matlock.
He has just finished an album called Nuclear Boogie.
