Wirksworth bands rocking into semis

ENERGETIC Wirksworth rockers will be storming the stage as part of a prestigious battle of the band competition.
Grunge new-comers The Durge and old school rock legends Serotonin have made it through to the semi finals of Y Not festival battle of the band competition.

Local talent will be performing alongside bigger nationally established acts at the Pikehall site near Matlock from August 1 to August 3 and festival organisers are offering one lucky band the chance to open the event.

Nearly 200 bands entered the competition and 60 were chosen to play in the first ten heats. Only 22 have made to through to the semi final heats.

The Durge will performing on Sunday from 7:30pm at Belper Town Football Ground in the bar and Serotonin will be appearing at The Venue in Derby on July 11 from 6pm.

Serotonin are inviting fans to go along and see their performance and have booked a 52 seat coach. Details can be found on Peak Promotion facebook site.

The open air battle of the bands final will take place at the Lime Kiln in Wirksworth on July 19.

Mystery Jets, the latest band to hit the charts with a string of appearances on television and Radio 1, are confirmed to headline the festival.

Tickets for Y Not Festival are available at all battle of the band gigs.
