Butchers brought home the bacon after winning big at a regional awards ceremony.

Robin Maycock Family Butchers, in Holloway, was joined in victory by E W Coates, oin Two Dales, and New Close Farm Shop, in Bakewell, at the East Midlands Pork Product Excellence Awards.

Brother and sister team Jonathan and Emily Maycock, of Robin Maycock’s, were delighted when their pork and apple burger was named Overall Champion if the region at the event, organised by BPEX.

17–year–old James Pritty of E W Coates was crowned Champion Young Sausage Maker.

He said: “I’m really enjoying it and my favourite job is sausage–making.

“I though I would do okay at the roadshow but was really quite surprised to win.”

E W Coates proudly took home gold awards for its home cured back bacon, pork pie, pork pie and pork pie with black pudding, as well as its plain pork suuasage and pork and sundried tonatoes, basil and garlic sausage.

The New Close Farm Shop picked up gold awards for its pork pie, pork sausage, old English sausage, Welsh dragon sausage and oak smoked back bacon, as well as its pork terrine, stuffed pork fillet, faggots and black pudding.
