Pub’s £200,000 makeover
Work has started on a £200,000 makeover of the Rising Sun, Middleton.
The pub will be completely redecorated in a more contemporary style whilst retaining a traditional appearance. To strengthen the focus on food, the kitchen will be moved upstairs to accommodate more diners.
The Rise End pub will get the cash injection for improvements from the new licensees Stephen Merrick and Laura Clarke, and owners Punch Taverns.
Stephen said: “By relocating the kitchen we will be able to extend the food offer and strengthen the focus on serving good quality home made food. The Rising Sun pie shop will be created, selling pies baked on-site and other locally sourced products - which we are sure will become very popular.
“We will be offering the community something different and a range of facilities to suit, all along with a great customer experience.”
Work was due to start on Monday, with the pub open until the 15th April, when it will close for two weeks whilst it undergoes the final stages of the refurbishment.
