Woeful neglect
There is a lot of talk concerning the proposed development of Bakewell Road, but what about the other side of Matlock? We have a shopping area called Firs Parade that for years has been woefully neglected. The paintwork is flaking, there are premises that have been empty for years. Isn’t it about time that something was done to make that part of Matlock leading to Causeway Lane and the park, more inviting? If the latest news is to be believed then yet another charity shop is coming to the centre of the town. Just how many charities can one small town support? Apart from food there is little choice in Matlock for everything else and certainly nothing for men. Come on Matlock Council pull your finger out and put some effort in to attracting someone other than food shops.
