Ballet girls get in step

YOUNG Dales dancers will be taking to the stage for a prestigious English Youth Ballet production.
Five students from the Claire Dobinson School of Dancing in Darley Dale have been chosen to dance with English Youth Ballet in a lavish new production of the ballet Giselle.

Talented youngsters Daisy Edwards, 10, from South Darley Primary and Highfields students Alice Rathbone,15, Daisy Rathbone,14, Emily Rathbone,15, and Maddie Shimwell,13, will be performing at the Royal Concert Hall in Nottingham.

Dance teacher Claire said: “This is a wonderful opportunity and I’m very much looking forward to watching them perform.

“I’m delighted to have so many students in the production.”

The girls now have an intensive rehearsal period of up to six hours a day before their appearance on August 1 and 2.

English Youth Ballet won the acclaimed Stage Award for Special Achievement in Regional Theatre in 2006.
