Climate change campaigners will show an award- winning futuristic film, in a bid to highlight the urgency of their cause.
Matlock Area Climate Action Forum will screen The Age Of Stupid, starring Pete Postlethwaite, at the Imperial Rooms in Matlock at 7.30pm on Friday, May 29.

Oscar-nominated Postlethwaite will star as a man living alone in the devastated world of 2055, looking back at archive footage from 2007 and asking why so little was done to prevent global warming.

The 90-minute film deals heady issues, including oil, war, politics and consumerism, but has been praised by critics for its accessible message.

It has won Best Documentary at the Birds Eye View Film Festival and Best Green Documentary at the Grierson Awards in 2008.

The Grierson Awards panel said of The Age Of Stupid: "The out and out winner this year was chosen for the sheer scale of its ambition and the verve of its realisation.

"On every level, The Age of Stupid is a powerful and unforgettable film that leaves you honour-bound to force governments to take action and that the judges recommend everybody must see."

Admission to see The Age Of Stupid is free, but donations are welcome.
