CREATIVE children will have the chance to take part in a programme of arty activities over the summer holiday in Darley Dale.
The town council has arranged and funded events for youngsters at the Whitworth Centre and Park kicking off on Monday with football coaching by Derby County.

Budding sport stars can take part in coaching, from 10am to 3pm daily, until August 1. Se
ssions cost £15 per day or £12 per day if all five days are booked.

Art and craft workshops, hosted by Rainbow Tribe, will be held in the Whitworth Centre Terrace Room starting with drama on August 4.

On August 11 old clothes, shoes or even jam jars and plant pots can be recycled using glitter and paint and turned into customised art gifts.

Magical painted worlds will be made on August 18 as children have the chance to produce life size paintings or collages. Mask making will also be on offer from 3pm until 5pm.

Design and Make Bus will be visiting the centre on August 26 for a beaded jewellery session and on August 27 a fantastic plastic workshop will be hosted with the chance to make a twirler from acrylic.

Cool kites will be created and decorated on August 28 and Design and Make Bus grand finale, during the last week of the holidays, will have a native American theme.

The two hour sessions cost £2.75 per child.

A summer reading challenge for children of all ages will also be taking place. Youngsters will be rewarded for reading six books with the chance of receiving a goody bag.

And a children’s cinema, run by volunteers and the police, is also set to come to the Terrace Room over the holidays.

To book a place on any of the sessions contact Sam Kay chair of Darley Dale Town Council Youth Provision Working Party on 01629 734286 or, before Monday, contact Sam Beastall on 01629 733678.
