PULSATING beats and global sounds will be coming to Wirksworth when top bands take to the stage for a mini music festival.
Three bands, Mankala Beat, Más Y Más and Quirky Turquoise, are due to perform Saturday August 16 for a music celebration behind the Lime Kiln pub.

Mankala Beat, a high energy, Afro-Caribbean band, made up of eight musicians from diverse places in the world, for a bright and energetic live performance.

The band have just returned from this year's Glastonbury Festival and will be bringing the big festival feeling to the small market town.

From Anglo-Spanish origins Más Y Más trio will be creating hot flavoured style Spanish guitar sounds, alongside Wirksworth's own Quirky Turquoise who will be playing homemade pop songs with an off-beat twist.

Crowds can expect a night of vibrant funky fusion, latin beats, bit of reggae and world music sounds, with a hint of rock and pop, in an intimate festival atmosphere suitable for the whole family.

The event will be presented by Sleeping Elephants, a community group creating positive social and environmental change.

Organic, local food and beers will be available.

Tickets, £10 or £5 for concessions and teenagers, can be bought from Traidlinks or The Lime Kiln.

The event will take place from 7pm until 11.30pm.
