EMBARK on a veritable voyage of discovery around Ashover as the Peak District Border Country Walking Festival comes to the village.
On Monday June 30, a walk which will reveal the community's fascinating history, encompassing the Civil War and Liquorice Allsorts, as well as taking in beautiful views over the Amber Valley, starts outside the Black Swan pub at 10.45am.

Children under 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult and dogs on leads are welcome

Booking is essential and there is an admission cost for the Blue Badge Guide-led one mile walk of £3 for adults and £2 for concessions.

A more strenuous walk in the evening sets out from the parish hall car park at 6.30pm and winds its way over five miles to fine vistas across the valley and Ogston.

Then it's down to the Old Poets Corner for a well-earned pint.

This walk, organised by Ashover Footpaths and Bridleways Committee, is free, but booking is still essential.

To book telephone Chesterfield tourist information centre on 01246 345777.
