Organisers of a Dales club night promoting new and young bands are to host fortnightly sessions – after an explosive reaction from music fans.
Band Xplosion, hosted by professional music makers and featuring bands from the area, has relocated to the newly re-opened Fishpond pub in Matlock Bath.
The event will be kicking off on Friday in the ballroom with an eclectic line-up of rock, pop
and indie music.
Derbyshire band Murder City Sweethearts, who have added drums and bass to their act, will be headlining the evening.
Rock, pop, power trio SKM and quirky, Sheffield-based singer songwriter Sarah Mac will also be on the bill.
Sarah, who has links to The Beatles, Billy J.Kramer, the Dakotas, and even Elvis Presley through her father's (Robbie MacDonald) 40-year career in the music industry, is working on her debut album.
Band Xplosion organisers are keen to promote live music at grass roots level and support new unsigned acts with professional sound and technical engineers.
Co-producer Ted Morris said: "The response from bands wanting to play the re-opened Fishpond has been huge and we're now booking slots for September and October. "However, with Band Xplosions now happening fortnightly there are lots more opportunities for bands to play and we are constantly looking."
Doors open at 7.30pm. Entry on the door is £2. Any bands interested in playing a gigcan contact
