MUSIC fans are set for a showcase of emerging talent and chart topping acts at one of the country's best small festivals hosted here in the Peaks.
Y Not Festival has announced a storming lineup for its annual three day and three night music celebration held at Pikehall, near Matlock.

Following two successful events this years festival, from August 1 to August 3, is stepping up a gear and has pulled out all the stops to get top bands Mystery Jets, Cage the Elephant and former Million Dead front man Frank Turner to headline the festival.

These bands have been appearing on the big stages at Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds but residents will have a chance to see them in a much more intimate setting.

With a line up to satisfy most tastes festival-goers can expect another 50 acts playing across the weekend ranging from jazz to traditional African music to Rock and Roll.

On Friday and Saturday the music is on two stages. Real ales and local ciders will be on offer at the bar.

To reduce the festival's carbon footprint and to make it more accessible, there will be a free shuttle bus which connects the Buxton to Ashbourne bus route and Matlock train station to the festival.

Y Not aims to promote the best bands the area has to offer on a stage shared with nationally established acts.

This year the organisers have staged a Battle of the Bands competition offering one lucky winning act the chance to open the event.
