Air cadets from Matlock spent a memorable week in September 1953 at the RAF Manby Flying College.

All cadets had around five hours flying in Hastings or Lincoln aircraft, while those with licences flew gliders.

They also took part in a small-bore rifle shooting, beating cadets from Rolls-Royce and Ashbourne.

Flight Lieutenant Raymond Hole was in charge of the squadron and is picture (centre) with the cadets in front of Hastings.
