This photo, submitted by Doug Goodall of Two Dales, shows railway and council staff during the transfer of county council staff from Derby to Matlock in 1958.

A new train service was laid on for staff travelling from Derby, but the transferred employees were not too impressed by the service,

An 8.53am arrival and then an exhausting trudge up the Bank would have meant that few would have arrived at their desks before 9.15am.

No surprise that in the end a cheaper, more direct bus service was preferred.
