Cricketer is remembered

This picture shows an Elton cricketer being interviewed for television.

The snap was taken in July 1986 and shows Alan Mosley, or ‘Satch’ as he was known, being interviewed by Central TV’s Tony Francis for the ‘Heart of the Country’ programme.

Alan sadly passed away in 1999 following a tragic accident and was described by his friend John Stone as one of the most colourful personalities in local sport.

John submitted the picture to the Mercury, which he took himself.

The village was chosen for a short film about cricket because of the team’s admittance rule – you had to be a resident of Elton to play for them.

The rule still stands today.
