Do you remember this Cromford street party?
Reader Janet Kirk of Tor View Rise, Cromford, brought this picture into the office of a gathering in the 1940s.
Janet is in the picture, her face half-hidden, at the far end of the table on the right, on the right hand side.
She said: “I vaguely remember the party, my main memory is that we got to have our tea outside.
“I think it was for the end of the war, either VE Day or VJ Day, but I can’t remember. I think it was either 1945 or 1946.
“The party was held at the bottom of what is now Hawthorne Drive.
“It was just before they built Hawthorne Drive, you can see all kinds of rubble and building materials in the foreground of the picture.”
The picture also shows the Bell Inn on the right hand side, the pub’s distinctive sign clearly visible in the distance.
