Smiling school dinner lady Kathleen Crooks is pictured here in the 1980s as she retires from Wirksworth County Infant School.

As popular Mrs Crooks stepped down from her role she revealed the pupils’ favourite food was fish fingers, chips and peas closely followed by beef burgers, sausages and cheese pie.

Pictured here with Mrs Crooks are pupils Jonathan Boam, Richard Sloane, Clare Jones, Sarah Millward, Penny Tysoe, Colin Knight and Michael Cundy.

The youngsters presented gifgts and cards to Mrs Crooks on behalf of the children and staff.
