These cheeky young chaps are Darley Dale footballers in 1938-39.
This lovely image of the past was bought in to the Mercury by Darley Dale resident David Holmes who is pictured in the photo.
It shows Churchtown School Football Team.
On the top row from left to right is Frank Fletcher, Tommy Goodwin, Alan Wigley, Reg Parks and Alan Wells.
The centre row from left to right is headmaster Mr C Bartram, Alan Fletcher, Peter Thompson, David Holmes and teacher Mr R Wragg.
The bottom row from left to right shows Morris Kingman, Colin Burgess and Henry Mellor.
Mr Holmes said: “We used to play on the football grounds where Firth Derrion factory was.
“The changing rooms were a railway carriage.”
The team got to the school semi finals football contest but lost out to Upper Hackney school.
Mr Holmes said: “They were happy days. It was a good school.”
