A picturesque Peak District village has been named one of the top places in the country to live.
Edale was ranked as one of the top locations in The Sunday Times’ 2021 best places to live awards.
Stroud in Gloucestershire was named the overall winner, as it “has all the basics covered in perfect style, but even better it has a strong community spirit and knows how to celebrate all things local”.
Eight places were then nominated for each UK region, with Edale named among the best places to set up home in the Midlands, behind regional winner Stamford.
The Sunday Times said: “In the Midlands, there’s inspiring urban edge on offer in Coventry and Birmingham, but unpretentious rural living is the main attraction in the Midlands, whether in beautiful Stamford, rugged Edale or the muddy lanes of Rutland.”
Other places to feature across the UK include the cities of York and Leeds, north-west winner Altrincham and north and north-east winner Ilkley, West Yorkshire.
