Marking the loss of Queen Victoria

Here is a photograph that is well over a century old.

It shows a group of young girls bizarrely sat in a boat indoors and was thought to have been taken in Wirksworth in 1901, to mark the death of Queen Victoria on January 22. It perhaps explains why no-one appears to be smiling. The only person named on the picture is the young girl on the far left of the front row, who is six-year-old Drusilla Gould.
