Hero rockers' debut launch

A DALES rock band is gearing up for an eventful year with the launch of their debut E.P.

The Durge has already struck a chord with music fans locally and with host of festival performance and gigs in the pipeline the band looks set for big things.

The Heroes Of the Great Republic E.P will be available tomorrow and the Wirksworth-based rockers will be plugging their new material across the country in the coming months.

Made up of vocalist Dom Foulds, guitarist James Harrison, bassist Sam Place and drummer Mike Dolton, the band take their influences from a range of rock giants including Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Tears For Fears, Deftones, Mastodon and Days Of The New.

Singer Dom said: "We are all pretty pleased with the E.P considering none of us have had any recording experience before.

"I would encourage anyone who likes rock to have a listen although in places we can come over quite poppy too."

Their alternative sound combining legendary guitar riffs, early nineties grunge undertones and original beats has already attracted national attention and the band has been busy building up a firm fan base.

Dom said: "We have done quite a lot of gigs locally now and played to different crowds, both old and young.

"The music scene is fairly healthy here but there is a major lack of venues. There are a lot of pubs but not all bands suit pub gigs.

"Our sound is quite big and does not always come forward well in pub crowds."
