Tribute Kings at The Flowerpot

Kings Of Lyon

Kings Of Lyon

Kings Of Lyon bring their tribute act to The Flowerpot in Derby on Friday, March 8.

As their name might suggest, they will be paying homage to the music of Kings Of Leon, playing the best music of the last four albums from KOL with an energy and quality which has already gained them a massive, enviable reputation.

They are now increasingly in huge demand for the life and the quality live sound they bring to an exciting varied set.

Their set includes the likes of Sex on Fire, The Bucket, Molly’s Chambers, Use Somebody, On Call, King of the Rodeo, Taper Jean Girl, Milk, Knocked Up, Holy Roller Novocaine, California Waiting and many more.

Then, on Saturday, March 9, the visitors to the King Street venue will be The Lancashire Hotpots.

The gig forms part of a UK tour to promote their hilarious new album A Hard Day’s Pint. Guaranteed to put a smile on your face, The Lancashire Hotpots are a comedy folk band from St Helens, formed in December 2006.

The group record songs about Lancashire, technology and British culture (e.g. Chippy Tea, He’s Turned Emo, eBay Eck). Their songs make use of Lancashire dialect. Their first single, He’s Turned Emo, gained over 230,000 plays on MySpace and was featured on BBC Radio One by Colin Murray. Their debut album, Never Mind The Hotpots was a minor hit, reaching number one comedy album on iTunes in the UK, and number two in the BBC 6 Music Album Charts. Their brand new album A Hard Day’s PintAnthony Gomes looks set to be their biggest selling album yet.

Finally, on Thursday, March 14, The Pat McManus Band, with support on the night from Paul Miro perform at The Flowerpot.

This is the first of a series of gigs from RAW Promotions from Irish artistes celebrating the St Patrick’s weekend.

The legendary Irish guitarist and champion fiddle player Pat McManus boasts a career that has seen him tour the world extensively, alongside artists such as Bon Jovi, Rush, The Scorpions, Gary Moore, Thin Lizzy, Sheryl Crow, Hawkwind, Sting, Black Sabbath, Paul Carrick and Rory Gallagher, to name but a few.

Pat has recorded well over 30 albums in his career, the majority of which are his own compositions, but he has also guested on many other artists’ albums in almost every genre.

Pat formed the blues/rock Pat McManus Band in 2007 for his first solo CD In My Own Time. The power trio have gone on to successfully tour throughout Europe, performed on TV and Radio and release two further CDs of new material and two live DVDs. The success of the band continues to grow, with a full touring schedule of gigs and festivals throughout Europe.

Doors open at 8pm and admission is £9 for Kings Of Lyon, £10 for The Lancashire Hotpots, £10 for The Pat McManus Band, with support from Paul Miro.
