Eight Peak District Youth Hostels have been recognised for their contribution in making the Peak District a top destination for cyclists.

The Peak District National Park has invested more than £160,000 of a £260,000 Department for Transport grant into facilities at the hostels.

The original grant is aimed at making cycling more accessible. Hostels in Castleton, Edale, Eyam, Hathersage, Hartington, Ilam, Ravenstor and Youlgrave have been upgraded to include bike locking facilities, bike pump stations and tools. YHA’s Caroline White and Peak Park’s Sarah Fowler, pictured, led a ride from Hathersage to Edale to celebrate the new facilities.
