Mr Bull, of Ashbourne, played for Matlock for five seasons before going to Burton Albion and then Ashbourne football club, but he said Matlock was his favourite team.
Back in the 60s the club was managed by Mick Bettridge, a PE teacher in Ashbourne who spotted Mr Bull’s potential and signed him up for the team.
Mr Bull, who had just returned from the army in the 1960 and was a keen player, said he had fond memories of his team mates and the club managers.
He added: “They were great days and we had such a good team. I’ve got some great memories.”
