MATLOCK Town's 4-0 win over Marine is the subject of an FA inquiry into betting patterns, according to reports.
The Crosby Herald newspaper reported that bookmakers Sky Bet
had received "100 per cent more money" than they would expect to take for a UniBond Premier Division game.

Spokesman Dale Tempest is quoted as saying: "We did suspend betting because we would rather be in a position where we are in control."

An FA spokesman has confirmed to the Matlock Mercury that the association had launched an "open inquiry" into the game, but was unable to confirm the substance of the inquiry or how long it would take.

Town vice-chairman Tom Wright said the association had not contacted the Gladiators directly and added that the FA "were not implicating us in the slightest."
