Man knocked out in 'unprovoked' park attack

A 23-year-old Dales man was kicked and punched unconscious in an 'unprovoked' attack in Matlock.
Three men approached the victim outside Matlock Library on Steep Turnpike at 2.30am on Saturday morning and started to kick him, said police.

Sgt Sutherland said: "They initially attacked him outside the library and then chased him down the hill into Hall Leys Park.

"There he was kicked, punched and knocked out. It was an unprovoked attack."

The victim had walked through Hall Leys Park and on to Steep Turnpike.

Police wish to speak to a woman who spoke to the injured man moments before the attack.
