The Youth Hostel Association has appointed a new interim chief executive while they search for a permanent replacement to Roger Clarke, who will stand down at the end of the month.
Caroline White, who has a distinguished career in social housing, will take charge for around five months from April.
She said: "I am very honoured to be appointed to such a unique and well-respected charity providing so many opportunities for young people.
"I have been so impressed with the enthusiasm and commitment of volunteers and staff, and am looking forward to working with them."
