Youth Hostel Association staff in Matlock have helped organise the temporary closure of Jersey Youth Hostel at Haut de la Garenne following police investigations at the site.
Employees at the association's Matlock-based headquarters have been assisting visitors who had been booked in to stay there.

Police are investigating allegations of child abuse in the building from over 20 ago, when it was a children's home.

YHA communication manager Paul Fearne said: "It's mainly the regional manager there who's dealing with it, and the Matlock operations team have only really been involved on the fringes of what's happening."

He added that the association was yet to decide the future of the Haut de la Garenne site.
