Madam,
It is with sheer anger that I have to respond to the news of the possible closure of local company Firth Rixson, Darley Dale.
Derbyshire Dales District Council has, at a staggering cost of £200,000 (using Derbyshire Dales tax-payers' money), served a noise abatement order on a local company, employing local people, when the company has had to spend £750,000 trying its utmost to comply and amend the situation as far as it is able to!
Why does it even necessitate the measures of a noise abatement order now, when this wasn't even a consideration 15-20 years ago or more when the factory had far heavier machinery in place making far more production?
I cannot begin to comprehend as to how the Derbyshire Dales District Council can justify the closure of one of their largest and longest-serving employers in the area resulting in 160 persons becoming unemployed, in a time of already high unemployment in the area.
Should our local council not encourage people to become employed, or yet again use taxpayers' money to pay these redundant workers BENEFITS!!
