Madam,

May I take this opportunity through your pages to thank those people that voted for me into the position of Elected Member for Wirksworth Division.
I would wish all electors though to know that I am here to serve you all as the county council representative, irrespective of the colour of your vote.

I am extremely grateful to the team that helped put me into this position, my leaflet distributors who did a fantastic job, the 'engine room' back up team of Viv and John Smith and my agent Andrew Kenning. My sincere thanks to you all.

I must also pay tribute to Cllr Mrs Irene Ratcliffe whose seat I have taken.

Throughout my campaign we only heard praise for the hard work that Mrs Ratcliffe has put in over the past few years, and I respect her for that.

We are delighted of course that we Conservatives have taken control of Derbyshire County Council, but would wish to add that we are also extremely aware of our duties and responsibilities to the task that lies ahead of us.

We believe sincerely in open government, and in that regard I hope that everyone feels free to be able to contact me whenever they have any problem or area of concern.

Cllr Garry Purdy
Elected Member
