Importance of prevention
Madam,
I am writing to let your readers know that this week is Cancer Prevention Week, when World Cancer Research Fund raises awareness that, far from being a matter of fate, cancer is a largely preventable disease.
In fact, scientists estimate that about a third of cancers could be prevented by eating healthily, being physically active and maintaining a healthy weight.
During Cancer Prevention Week, I would urge people in the local area to make a positive lifestyle change, even if it is a relatively small one.
After all, a healthy lifestyle is not a case of all or nothing.
Even by making a relatively small change, you can make a real difference to your risk of developing cancer.
