Madam,

It would be a good idea if the crown on the roundabout in Crown Square was removed for a few months of the year to enable the creative artists in our town to display and demonstrate their talents.
It could be like the fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square.

A small group of people of varying interests could be appointed by the council to approve or disapprove submissions. Let's have fun.

This thought came to me when I saw the Christmas fabric decoration and, later, the magnificent snowman on the roundabout.

This is a town of talents; let's show visitors it has a distinct personality.

Despite the credit crunch and the weather, I think the town is rising again and beginning to buzz.

Let's make sure it continues and develops an individuality that attracts more visitors and, most of all, makes residents feel proud and raises a few smiles as we circle the roundabout.

Sadly, however, I can already hear the 'masters' of this town saying: 'Oh! the cost, the danger, against health and safety rules!' As usual they will have missed the whole point of the suggestion.
