Madam,

At Friday's Derbyshire County Council Liberal Democrat group meeting, I was elected as the new group leader and paid tribute to retiring group leader Barrie Taylor for his dedication and loyalty for over two decades.
These are interesting times, a new council with new priorities and a slender majority.

But Liberal Democrats will not align themselves with any other party unless there is a true and meaningful relationship between all parties.

We have always believed that true democracy would benefit local people bridging the gap and bringing a better understanding of local government and local communities.

Cllr Tony Rogers (Chesterfield) was elected deputy leader and Cllr Barrie Taylor as group secretary and chief whip.

Cllr Steve Flitter
County Councillor for
Matlock, Riber and Tansley
