Madam,
Your recent article by Richard Woolley regarding road safety in Darley Dale drew attention to the intermittent but potentially dangerous situations caused by irresponsible parking by users of the Molyneux Business Park.
Sadly none of the parties involved has so far taken the matter seriously.

Several times lately I have had cause for concern such as when a delivery vehicle was unloading alongside a car parked at the entrance to Sir Joseph's Lane.

The road was
completely blocked and any vehicle turning into the lane ran the risk of a head-on collision.

Some drivers park partly on the footpath – a confusing hazard to a nearly blind resident whose daily exercise is a gentle walk to the corner of the lane.

Often, exiting from the lane is difficult as cars parked close to the junction block visibility to the left.

The answer is to creep out and just hope that no vehicle is coming down the hill.

Here is an accident waiting to happen.

Those who park so inconsiderately seem not to recognise the danger and inconvenience that they cause.

Realism and a gallon or two of white paint are needed.

White lines at the junction of Whitworth Road and the A6 and at the junction of Whitworth Road and Sir Joseph's Lane are the minimum necessary to keep these danger spots clear.

Parking restricted to one side only of Whitworth Road would provide additional safety, with some time-limited parking to facilitate the use of our excellent local post office.

It really is time DCC Highways bucked up their ideas.

Sir Joseph Whitworth would have had things well sorted by now!

But then, he was a dynamic engineer and not a buck-passing administrator.
