Madam,

I recently read the article in The Peak Times written by Danny Carden entitled "Inspectors' fears over care home" and I was wondering which care home he is writing about as his article in no way compares with my experiences of Newstead Manor.
My dear wife, who is suffering from dementia, has been a resident for approximately eight months, and I am delighted she has settled so well at Newstead.

I visit her regularly, several times a week, and I have never been aware of, nor observed, th
e conditions that you describe.

However, one has to realise the type of care home it is and at some time during the day there is going to be some dirty linen about, but I have never seen any left on the toilet floor.

With regard to the infection around Christmas time, I was aware there was an infection at that time as a member of staff telephoned me and asked me not visit the home for a couple of weeks to avoid any possibility of spreading the virus.

To my mind, this was a very right and proper precaution to take.

I have every confidence in the management and staff at Newstead to take adequate care of my wife in all her needs and I am quite content for her residency to continue.

As for the 'major problems', quite honestly I do not see any, maybe one or two minor problems which can easily and quickly be remedied with a word in the right ear.
