Businesses and apprentices in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire urged to join network to promote apprenticeships
The East Midlands Apprenticeship Ambassador Network (EMAAN), a group of employers and apprentices, is encouraging others to join them.
Part of a network of ambassadors across nine regions in England, EMAAN members main aim is to champion the benefits of apprenticeships.
The network enables members to learn from each other and have input into government thinking and policy on the skills agenda.
EMAAN is one of the sponsors of the highly acclaimed Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Apprenticeship Awards, which will celebrate outstanding apprentices in the region later this year.
Support for your business
Angela Borman has worked in the delivery of apprenticeships for a number of years and is now the Employer Chair of the network.
She says it’s a particularly exciting time for businesses to take on an apprentice.
“The Government recently announced that it will fully fund apprenticeships in small businesses by paying the full cost of training for anyone up to the age of 21 – reducing costs and burdens for businesses.
“This means that smaller employers will no longer need to meet some of the cost of training and it saves time and costs for providers like further education colleges, who currently need to source funding separately from the government and businesses.”

Supporting apprentices
The network also plays an important role in supporting apprentices, offering them opportunities to take on leadership roles.
Charlie Gresswell is the Apprentice Chair of the network, having completed a Food Technical Degree Apprenticeship.

There’s a diverse range of apprenticeships on offer in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, with opportunities ranging from becoming a teacher to working as a nuclear scientist!
