Fun in the sun came to Darley Dale as crowds packed in to the town to enjoy an annual celebration.
Residents and visitors were out in their droves on Sunday for the Darley Dale Fun Day, at Whitworth Park.

A range of activities were on offer as well as live music from local bands, stalls, puppet shows and a fun fair.

Darley Dale Juniors football club showed off their competitive side as they competed in a six-a-side competition and fathers got into the spirit in a Lads v Dads football match.

Refreshments included a hog roast and Indian cuisine provided by the Shalimar restaurant.

Kickboxing champs from Jesters Gym gave a nailbiting exhibition in the arena and boxing fans got the chance to throw a few punches in the ring.

Dancing was provided by Essential Energy Dance and Theatre School and motorbikes and strong men were also on hand to impress the crowds.

Jan Handley, one of the organisers, said: "It was a brilliant day. We had an absolutely superb turn out and fantastic weather.

"It was the busiest fun day so far – it was jam packed –and everyone said how much they enjoyed themselves."
