YOUNGSTERS helped police with a graffiti clean-up spree in Wirksworth.
A group of girls from the Anthony Gell School spent the day with their local Safer Neighbourhood team, removing graffiti from alleyways, walls and bus shelters around the town and in the school building.

The girls used anti-graffiti kits, specifically designed to remove spray paint and markers, which were provided by the Derbyshire Dales Community Safety Partnership.

School caretakers also helped, along with PCSO Sue Lester of Wirksworth Safer Neighbourhood Team, Karen Cooper, anti-social behaviour officer and Sgt Dave Parker of the Derbyshire Dales Community Safety Partnership.

PCSO Lester said: "A number of students at the school thought they could help their local community by spending time cleaning graffiti up from their local area.

"We were delighted to offer our help as it's great to see young people willing to do something to make their environment a nicer place to live and it will really benefit everyone."
