A NEW eco centre will be opening its doors to Derbyshire residents for a series of free taster days.
The £1.4million Derbyshire Eco Centre, which was built by the county council in Wirksworth, will give courses on how to maintain the area's
rural heritage from September.

Meanwhile, residents can have a taste of what will be on offer, and have t
he chance to learn more about skills such as dry stone walling, roofing, rural crafts and energy saving.

The courses will be run in partnership with the National Stone Centre, which is nextdoor.

Cllr Mike Longden, the council's cabinet member for education, said: "The courses we provide already have a strong reputation nationally and the new centre will offer further opportunities for people of all ages.

"We're committed to preserving Derbyshire's proud history of rural building skills and will be running adult education courses, building school links, running events for all the family, and supporting voluntary groups and local businesses."

The taster events will take place between March and June.
