A knife-carrying man was chased by police through a Peak District town on Tuesday, after he threatened to injure himself.
Officers from Bakewell police station saw the man on Haddon Road in the town, after being alerted by his family members.

He was chased along Haddon Road and across the park before being caught on the Monsal Trail.

A Bakewell police spokesman said: "He tried to get away as he wanted to be left alone, but we can't do that when he's been threatening to hurt himself.

"He'd got a knife but never threatened the public or any police officers," he added.

The man was taken to Chesterfield Royal Hospital.

He has not been arrested.
