A Matlock business boss is offering support for needy women in Africa with an original scheme to donate unwanted bras.
Shirley Johnson, owner of Geisha, has been collecting unwanted lingerie which she will send to under-privileged African communities.

So far Shirley has had 550 donations but she is hoping to collect 1,000 bras by the end of August.

She said: "Everybody has been very generous and nearly every day people have been bringing bras in.

"Many women have unwanted bras, we've all made a bad purchase and are not really sure what to do with them.

"I think people are pleased to find a good home for them."

Shirley decided to start the bra collection after reading about charity Knickers 4 Africa in a trade magazine.

The organisation provides basic necessities, including underwear and baby clothes, although Shirley is only collecting bras.

To donate bras, call in to Geisha on Firs Parade.
