Roadwork chaos has hit Matlock and motorists face a month of delays with work taking place on Bakewell Road.
Affordable homes specialists Westleigh Developments has been putting in a sewer at the former gasworks site, where 58 flats are being built.

Temporary traffic lights are set to be removed today.

Once Westleigh has completed its work, Birse will be carrying out work at the Bakewell Road roundabout, on behalf of Sainsbury's.

The work is expected to take around four weeks.

A spokeswoman for Sainsbury's said: "At the moment wagons are over-running part of the roundabout's central reservation. It has been creating a lot of damage to the grass verge.

"We will be constructing a deterrent to stop vehicles going up on there and will be putting in block paving and concrete edges round the outside to protect the roundabout.

"To help control traffic flow, traffic management will be put in place but we are not anticipating any delays at the moment."

She added that more work was set to take place on the link road and new bridge on Cawdor Way within the next few weeks.
