BEEF and sheep farmers from across the East Midlands travelled to Bakewell on Tuesday to discuss the challenges facing the red meat industry at a major agricultural conference.
Hot topics such as climate change, water supplies and feed efficiency were all on the agenda at the event, which was hosted by the English Beef and Lamb Executive at the Agricultural Business Centre.

James Wilde, press officer for the Government-funded executive, said: "It was designed to give beef and sheep farmers an opportunity to talk and learn more about getting the best returns on their products.

"It was part of a series of four meetings we are running and we get people travelling 40 or 50 miles especially for these events," he added.

Farmers were briefed on the latest news about export markets, innovative meat cuts and marketing techniques during interactive workshops from 5.45pm to 9pm.
