COMMUNITY centre users in Darley Dale are being located to a new site in Matlock while a leisure facility is being built.
The popular centre, off Bakewell Road, is being relocated to make way for Matlock's new leisure development at the Dimple.
The district council hasassured community centre management they will accommodated within the new leisure development, but m
eanwhile are being housed in accommodation across from the nursery site, off Megdale.
Mayor John Evans said, representatives of Darley Dale Community Centre had considered several options for a temporary measure.
He added: "It is further away from Darley Dale, in fact it is in Matlock but of course it is only temporary.
"The committee were reasonably accepting of this proposal and the district council is going to provide the building in time for when they need to demolish the existing one.
"It was best that we took this as at least we have a roof over our heads.
"After that it will be part of the new leisure centre, a dedicated room for Darley Dale people."
Community centre secretary Joyce Young said the centre was used regularly by several different groups including keep-fit classes and church members.
She added: "This was the only site there was and we are more than happy. The council has been fully accommodating.
"We hope people will use it as they really don't have any were else to go."
A formal notice will be given to Darley Dale Town Council to vacate the existing building by September.
The temporary building will be let to the town council for three years.
The district council has agreed to sell the community centre site at the Dimple to Marston's for the development of a family pub/restaurant.
