A care home has scooped a national award for its fun-packed educations sessions, which have helped improve patients' quality of life
First Taste arts education charity trained staff at Tansley House Care Home in how to use games, exercises, arts classes and photography session to stimulate residents.

A care home spokeswoman said residents are happier, more alert, sleeping better, less isolated and more comfortable since the new classes were introduced.

The successful scheme has helped the home earn the National Group Award, presented by the National Institute of Adult Continuing Education.

Jane Brook, from First Taste, said: "The staff are totally focussed on learning so that they can benefit their residents.

"That's already having a measurable impact on residents' mental, emotional and physical health."
