People who leave their homes unlocked could find the police on their doorstep this summer.
Derbyshire Constabulary is launching a footprint campaign this week to improve home security and officers will be delivering flyers to homes they feel are at risk from sneak-in burglars.

The flyers will be used to highlight particular lapses in security as well as provide contact details for people needing further crime prevention advice.

Assistant Chief Constable Steve Cotterill said: "Last July and August in Derbyshire, more than 30 per cent of all burglaries reported to the police were as direct result of an insecurity or a sneak-in."

Anyone concerned about home security issues who would like additional crime prevention advice should call Derbyshire on 0345 123 33 33.
