AN ELECTRICITY pylon collapsed after a blaze in Winster.
Fire crews were called to Bonsall Lane at 5.30pm on Wednesday.

One pole of a twin electricity pylon, carrying about 110,000 volts, was on fire.

A spokesman for Derbyshire fire service, said the wooden poles showed 'severe signs of arching' before collapsing.

Electricity board workers arrived at about 7pm and fire crews extinguished the flames by 7.20pm.

A spokeswoman for E.ON said: "We isolated the electricity feed going in to the pylon and left it in the hands of the fire service.

"We are looking to go back in the next few days to reinstate the pylon.

"We don't know what caused the fire and are making investigations."

She added no homes lost power in the incident.
