Blood was splattered over the walls of a Dales cricket club after vandals targeted it for the second week in a row.
Yobs smashed windows at Bakewell Cricket Club's pavilion at the weekend.

But they appear to have hurt themselves in the process as blood covered the walls, floor and seats inside.

Residents say the recreation ground area has been plagued by boozy young vandals all summer.

A resident, who did not wish to be named for fear of reprisals, said: "This is an ongoing thing with drunken vandalism.

"On this occasion they've pushed in two glass windows and a perspex one which was put in to replace another they smashed.

"But now they've left blood everywhere – on the floor and on the seats," he said.

The cricket ground was targeted last week too, when vandals cut the boundary rope and used it to set fire to the top of a picnic table.
Cricket club treasurer Kevin Pritchard was annoyed, but not surprised,
by the latest incident.

Mr Pritchard said: "I'm not surprised because people have been hanging around there all summer long and there's been quite a bit of drinking there.

"I know some local residents have been out to get people down off the pavilion roof before," he added.

Bakewell police said they had clamped down on the recreation ground yobs and patrols had been stepped up in the area.

Sgt Andy Wordsworth said: "We are targeting the cricket area and following up a number of positive leads in relation to this incident.
"We are also working with our partners to bring in extra lighting and diversionary activities for young people," he added.

Anyone with any information about any of the vandalism should call Pc Rowbotham on 0845 123 3333.
