Villagers clear the way
Volunteers in Bonsall have been clearing paths as part of a community project to improve the conditions of public rights of way.
Walkers, horseriders and cyclists are being given the chance to get involved by surveying the paths and reporting back on any work that needs to be done.
This includes checking paths are signed and stiles and gates are in good condition.
Training and tools will be provided to help people get to grips with clearing and repairing paths.
Derbyshire County Council cabinet member for environment Brian Lucas said: "We care for more than 3,000 miles of public rights of way as well as maintaining many more miles of greenways, trails, canal and cycle paths.
"People can get together and check the state of paths in their parish. They will also be given the help and training needed to improve their local rights of way.
"This is the ideal chance for people to highlight any concerns that they may have about a local path and work towards solving them together."
